Two Small Words that Make Your Message Matter

Do you know the two teeny words that can make a huge difference when you write for your target market?

Two little words – not even 10 letters all together – can turn your readers into customers, visitors into cash. Every time.

I was reminded of those two words last night. As we drove home from a family Easter dinner in Lethbridge, we passed a hotel in a tiny town.  The sign hanging outside had just two words:

“52 Rooms”

Who cares?

Not me. Even if I hadn’t been just 45 minutes from home, those 52 rooms wouldn’t have mattered much.

If we’re limiting ourselves to only two, here are some I would have preferred to read. That might have made me wish I had time to stop.

Clean Rooms

Vacant Rooms

Swimming Pool

Free Breakfast

When you’re writing an article, a press release, a page of web copy, only two words matter:

Who cares?

Before every title, heading, paragraph of you write, ask yourself, “Who cares?”  Then answer the question.  Keep showing your readers why they should care and… over time… they will.
